About the Staff

Home Minders Manager, Tom Murphy, is a graduate of Georgia Tech and has worked as an Industrial Engineer, and an Economic Developer for over 30 years.

Murphy is a past president of the Georgia Economic Developer's Association, a thousand member organization.

He has lived in the Blairsville area for 13 years and has worked to assist new industries and businesses to locate into the area, as the Executive Director of the Union County Development Authority.   He will retire from this position in June 2007 to devote full-time to Home Minders. 

In order to fill a need in this mountain area, Murphy started Home Minders in 2004 to assist part-time residents by checking and reporting weekly on their mountain home.

He serves as an Elder at Grace Community Presbyterian Church, PCA.  He is an active Gideon speaker, and is a past president and an active member of the local Gideon Camp.  He has served on the board of directors of several volunteer agencies, and is a member of the Union County Rotary Club.  Murphy attends Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce board meetings.  Home Minders is a Chamber member.

Murphy designed and built his own residence and worked successfully with all the sub-contractors necessary to get the job done.
